Textual analysis of films that relate to genres

Personal Comment
The textural analysis i have done is designed to help me with my own film making project because it allows me to see what other films of similar styles have done before.
Obviously I do not have a huge Hollywood budget & cast so I have to work around what i have available to use.
It has been very beneficial for me to do a textural analysis because I did not realise that you can gain so much information about  the plot from the first 2 minutes of a film. By breaking down each scene into sections it allows you to pick out all the different shots used, sound effects & characters etc.
From the first 2 minutes of a film you can quite often gain an idea as to what sort of plot it is going to be, establish main characters & setting of the film.

It has also been helpful for me to do a textual analysis to help break down the film & pick out such things as key camera angles, sound effects & the use of music to help give setting to the film.

The main thing that I have learnt from doing a textual anaysis is that it has given me an insight into how much detail can be gathered from watching barely the first two minutes of a film.
Normally you would not think about it because you would watch the whole film & the story would unfold as it goes along.
But by breaking each scene down, looking at what is going on, the music & the sound effects it has given me things to think about & what kind of things I would like to tailor to possibly put in my own film. Picking the correct music & sound effects can also greatly influence how the viewer percieves what is happening & this is something that I am really going to think about when working on my project.

  1. Similarly to your genre research, this looks a bit messy on the page - Is there a better way that you can upload and present the work?

The textual analysis is fairly decent. However, in your concluding comments, where you discuss what you have learned, I think that you should make reference to the fact that you are learning about different camera shots, edit types, use of music, etc.

I think that you MUST also sort out the spelling mistake that you have made with the word textural - it should read as textual
